I wanted to make a mermaid that had a different color balance. I looked for a fish that had a strong orange aspect to contrast with the blue and green. I loved how the bright, reflective colors of the skipjack glinted in the water! Combining these seemed a obvious step. She’s so fun! I understand there are a lot of different things called “skipjack” and I think that ads a layer of meaning for people to read into. I feel like every market I do, I learn something new about “skipjack”!
