I know I say it all the time, but I love deep sea creatures. This mermaid is modeled after the anglerfish. I think most people are familiar with the anglerfish, they’re so iconic! I incorporated the bioluminescence with the glow in her chest and hair. I think the air bubbles are the real delight of this image. It’s disruptive of the visual peace and calm, but in a delightful way that ads texture and dynamism. It’s one of my favorites.
