I love the patterns on leopard seals. It’s a beautiful set of markings. I also tend to draw more female presenting people, so I try to make an effort to include more male codded figures when I think of it. I had a lot of fun working with this merman, making his body curve like a seal was the perfect iconography. The way a seal moves in the water is so specific to the species. The harsh lighting of underwater making that shadow on his face was beautiful. I really love the passion that comes through here.
